Our origins can be traced as far back as 1947 through three generations when John Liddle, who at that time was driving for the Caledonian Omnibus Company and part time during the evening for a local taxi company, bought his first taxi. A second soon followed and then in 1957 the first minibus was purchased. This was done at the same time as John’s son Bobby Liddle came out of the RAF after doing his national service and went into partnership with his father.

The company then started to take on additional contracts and more vehicles. Although never needing, or wanting to grow too big, by 1968 the company was running 2 x 12 seat Ford Transit minibuses (JVM490F & HVR 147F) and 3 taxis along with a Vanden Plas limousine which was used for Weddings and private hire.
 

In 1969 a Bella Vega coach (FPT 503C) was purchased from Mosely’s in Durham this being an ex General Motors of Chester le Street vehicle. Next a Plaxton Panorama (DEF 67D) ex Beeline of Teesside was purchased to replace the Bella Vega. This was then traded in for another Plaxton Panorama with Elite bodywork (SVD 240G).

In 1973 a Salvador Caetano was purchased (BAA 816J) and was replaced by Plaxton Panoram Elite (XMA 213M) as shown,  in the late 70’s

Plaxton Supreme III  (VCW 693V)

In 1983 another Plaxton with Supreme III bodywork (VCW 693V) was purchased from Hughes DAF of Cleckheaton with Ford running gear. This coach remained in service until the business was wound down in 1989. It is pictured here in Carlisle in 1985.

The company ceased trading in Cumbria in the late 90’s when the last remaining taxi was sold and the current company was restarted in Walbottle, Newcastle upon Tyne just a few years later when we took delivery of our new 16 seat Mercedes Sprinter from Bell Truck Sales via Crest coach conversions in Doncaster (NK53 OOB).
 

In October of 2005 we then took delivery of our 7 seater Mercedes Travelliner (ND55 HMO) and in March of 2007 we replaced our 16 seater with another new Mercedes Sprinter (BX07 NVJ) but this time with the 515 which is a bigger more spacious version of our earlier model.
